The selection of the correct pole length is guided by each skier’s personal preferences. The formulas below help in choosing the precise measurement.

CLASSIC STYLE POLES

In classic skiing, poles reach approximately the skier’s shoulder line.

The pole length can be calculated by using a coefficient and the skier’s height.

Calculation Formula: Skier’s height * Coefficient (between 0.83 – 0.86)

Example:

• Skier’s height: 178 cm
• Coefficient: 0.83
• Pole length: 178 x 0.83 = 147.7 cm

SKATING TECHNIQUE POLES

In skating, poles reach above the skier’s shoulder line.

The pole length can be calculated by using a coefficient and the skier’s height.

Calculation Formula: Skier’s height * Coefficient (between 0.88 – 0.91)

Example:

• Skier’s height: 178 cm
• Coefficient: 0.88
• Pole length: 178 x 0.88 = 156.6 cm
